Albion

A legacy of British craftsmanship

Since 1985, Albion Saddlemakers has been dedicated to producing high-quality saddles, all handmade in Britain. Based in Walsall—a town with a rich saddlery heritage dating back to the Middle Ages—the company takes great pride in its British roots. As a registered member of the Made in Britain organisation, Albion upholds the highest standards of craftsmanship, innovation, and quality.

Expertise and precision in saddle making

Albion, meaning ‘Old England,’ was founded by Paul and Sherry Belton with a vision to enhance horse performance through superior saddle design. With a background in engineering, they built the brand on the foundation of premium horse welfare. Today, under the leadership of managing director Cath Gordon, a passionate horsewoman, Albion continues to refine its craft, blending traditional techniques with modern innovation.

At the heart of Albion’s production is its tree shop, where expert craftsmen continuously develop and handcraft saddle trees to optimize comfort for both horse and rider. Every saddle is assembled with precision—from leather cutting and shaping to foaming, stitching, and finishing. Rigorous quality control ensures that only the finest saddles leave the factory.

A commitment to horse and rider

As Albion approaches its 40th anniversary, its guiding principle remains unchanged: to deliver superior saddles that enhance performance and comfort for both horse and rider. By combining artisan craftsmanship with state-of-the-art technology, Albion Saddlemakers continues to set the standard for British saddle making, with a legacy built to last.
